Lebanese Saab was born in 1964 and the self-taught dress designer started selling his designs to women in the neighborhood at the age of nine. In 1982 Elie opened his couture atelier in Beirut and word quickly spread about his talent. Due to Mr. Saab’s increasing couture clientele he was invited by the Chambre Syndicale De La Haute Couture to show in Paris in 2000. The label during this time showcased four collections per year, haute couture and ready-to-wear and in 2006 he became a corresponding member.
Even though Mr. Saab has gained worldwide fame his mind is never far from his beloved Beirut. This city is Elie’s main source of inspiration and in 2005 opened a five story building in which his workshops and studios are located. The shoe collection from Elie Saab are just like his dresses: timeless and these are my favorite styles.
