The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), New York’s premiere French cultural center, is thrilled to welcome designer Pierre Hardy for a special talk on Thursday, June 8 at FIAF’s Florence Gould Hall.
Known for his architectural shoes and graphic bags, the-illustrator-turned-accessories designer Pierre Hardy has found great success in taking inspiration from art, dance, and design. Hardy established coveted shoe collections at Hermès—where he has acted as creative director of shoes since 1990 and creative director of fine jewelry since 2001—before launching his own label in 1999. He has created hit capsule collections for Gap and Nars, and is part of the design team behind the handcrafted Apple Watch Hermès.
With Hermès’ recent investment in his eponymous label, Hardy is one of today’s most important accessories designers. The unique character of his designs has made fans of many celebrities including Rihanna, Alicia Vikander, and Bella Hadid.
The wildly inventive designer will discuss his creative process, craftsmanship, and modern design in a talk moderated and curated by journalist Melissa Ceria.
FIAF – Florence Gould Hall is located at 55 East 59th Street (between Park and Madison Avenue). Tickets are $20 for FIAF members, $25 for Non-FIAF members and $10 for Students with a valid I.D. Tickets can be purchased by FIAF.org.
