Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to Gemma Roe and her debut collection. Ms. Roe first flirtation with shoe design began when she attended Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. During her time at the school Gemma achieved first class honours in fashion illustration and graphic design in 2007. Since leaving the school Roe designed fashion sets for Balenciaga and Marc Jacobs while also working as a fashion stylist creating photoshoot looks for Alexander McQueen Couture and Liz Black.
Even after these successes in the industry the shoe bug was too strong and Gemma decided to focus on shoe design by attending footwear classes at Central Saint Martins and Cordwainers. Ms. Roe also interned with Paul Thomas in order to further her footwear industry knowledge. After these developments the debut eponymous collection was launched for 2016 Spring.
Each shoe is made in Italy outside of Florence and the label blends Italian craftmanship with London cool. Roe already began to receive accolades in the fashion industry and after this debut collection I am sure there is more to come.
