Joanne Stoker Spring’11

Joanne Stoker

Before obtaining her MA from Cordwainers Footwear Design program in 2009; Joanne obtained a BA in Fashion and Textile at Northumbria University, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Fashion Textiles was Ms. Stoker’s first love and she worked in N.Y and London as a surface textile designer in embroidery, print and embellishment. Stoker also has experience in architectural model making that was gained during her time with MJL Construction and Engineering. Joanne made her way on the international scene by winning the First into Fashion Competition presented by Grazia Magazine; allowing her to be mentored by Jimmy Choo. With help from Mr. Choo and the utilization of her scholastic and real-life experience Ms. Stoker launched her collection during London Fashion Week in 2010.

The inspiration behind the 2011 Collection came from Joanne’s travels to Havana, Cuba and her love of music. Stoker describes the collection as tropical glamour meets Rococo art and this aesthetic is brought to light by using bright colors combined with ornate materials and shell-like curves. Number 3… if only in bright then it would be fantastic.
