Tibi’s Amy Smilovic was always surrounded by art growing up due to her artistic parents. She grew up on a small island off the coast of Georgia loving fashion and creating new clothes to be sold to local boutiques. Later on in life Smilovic graduated from the University of Georgia and soon began to work for Ogilvy and Maher.
1997 was the year that Amy moved with her husband to Hong Kong due to his work transfer and this move would change the course of her life. Living in Hong Kong gave Mrs. Smilovic the inspiration to start her label Tibi with another expat, Octavia Hyland. The ladies would travel to Indonesia to work with the small textile companies there to produce unique prints in vivid colors. With only four different designs on hand the label began to sell to Lane Crawford and other expatriates in Hong Kong. Buzz for the label began to grow and soon stores from the United States wanted to sell clothing from Tibi. Today, the label produces a full collection and is now based in Soho, New York.
The Tibi Pre-Fall 2018 collection has boots with Western touches and influences from the 70s. Each shoe has a pointed toe and heels that are not too high. My favorite style is the plaid boot with a green toe because of its unique combination and height. Moda Operandi currently has the Tibi Pre-Fall 2018 collection in stock.
