Yesterday, I was on the Luxury Shoes Group for LinkedIn and I came across Weronika’s work. Ms. Lesniak obtained a BA and MA from Cordwainers and her MA collection was “Highly Commended” at the Drapers Footwear Awards and shortlisted for the International IHDA and ITS#8 competitions. Lesniak also has worked for various companies in the past such as Vivienne Westwood, Burberry, English Eccentrics, Grayson Perry and F-Troupe.
Ms. Lesniak’s collection is titled War of the Banks and was created by using traditional shoemaking and intaglio techniques combined with modern laser etching processes. The inspiration behind the collection came from the clothes worn by workers in the Financial Industry and the armor worn by Knights during Feudal Europe. Horses, Eagles, Griffins and Deer symbols were laser etched on the shoes and these same symbols were also used by Medieval Knights and the original UK banks. Thank you Weronika for continuing to push the boundaries of mens’ footwear and I am sure any Dandy would love to have any of these shoes as part of their collection.
